Restored as part of the restoration and regeneration of the Port Pirie Railway Station Precinct, the Port Pirie Railway Museum forms part of the unique story the Silver to Seaway transportation of silver and rich iron ore from Broken Hill to Port Pirie.

The Silver to Sea Way Project has reached a remarkable milestone with the successful completion of the Port Pirie Railway Station Precinct restoration. Now fully revitalised, the Port Pirie Railway Museum is officially open and welcoming visitors. This beautifully restored historical gem, located at the northern end of Ellen Street, stands as a proud testament to Port Pirie’s rich rail heritage.

The project has breathed new life into the precinct, carefully preserving its architectural and historical significance while transforming it into a vibrant cultural attraction. The museum now offers immersive exhibitions, restored locomotives, and interactive displays that celebrate the pivotal role Port Pirie played in South Australia’s rail and industrial history. Visitors can step back in time and experience the stories that shaped the region—right in the heart of this iconic railway station.
