Unearthing Quarantine
A weekend of free guided tours and activities is on offer at Q Station to unearth the incredible history and environment of North Head Quarantine Station. Book for a single tour or stay for the weekend, immersing yourself fully in the restored former quarantined passenger accommodation.
As Australia’s oldest, continuously operating quarantine station, Q Station’s history has many stories to unearth. From the 1830s until 1984 migrants and returning Australians were quarantined here. Discover their stories in our Quarantine Life tour or Skip through Quarantine tour especially for families.
The Unearthing Quarantine tour takes a systematic look at the historical and cultural evidence within the landscape and buildings.
A unique temporary exhibition will display significant artefacts from the moveable heritage collection with an opportunity to learn about the work being done to care for and manage this resource.
Themes of migration and medical history make the Quarantine Station an incredible resource for teachers; the ‘intro to Q’ sessions reveal how students could benefit from a Q Station learning experience.
A scavenger hunt and Sydney History trivia event will keep you entertained whilst the Nature Tour unearths the significant environmental values of the site.
