Unearthed Project, Twilight Poetry by Lantern Light
An Evening of Verse Illuminated. Step into an enchanting world of poetry, illuminated by lantern light, as Tilba Walks presents the "Unearthed Project: Twilight Poetry by Lantern Light Walk" during the Australian Heritage Festival 2025. Set in the heart of Central Tilba, a National Trust Village.
On the Far South Coast of New South Wales, this event weaves together poetry, history, and storytelling for an unforgettable evening.
The village will glow under lantern light for the Poetry by Lantern Light Twilight Walk.
This guided walk – the Unearthed Project, provides emerging and established—features poetry stations where voices from the past and present share tales of heritage. Seven talented local and Indigenous poets will transform the village’s streets into poetic canvases, breathing life into tales of connection and history.
Experience the Magic:
- Guided Lantern Walk – Journey through the historic streets of Central Tilba, where the glow of lanterns casts a timeless ambiance.
- Poetic Encounters – Stop at seven locations, each featuring a different poet, sharing a unique perspective on heritage, history, and place.
- Origins of Ballads – Delve into the storytelling traditions that shape Australia’s poetic landscape.
The evening concludes with an event at the Dromedary Hotel, offering a platform for local poets to perform under the stars. Highlights include:
- Children and Young People’s Poetry Competition
- Yuin and non-Indigenous poets
- Voices of the past and present, share words of the culture and heritage”
