Discover the mysteries of an iconic 1880s Estate in Camden

For the first time in it’s history, the gates of the iconic Dr Crookston’s 1880s Estate in Camden are being opened to the public. Unlock the secrets and discover the rich and colourful history of one of the Macarthur region’s most influential properties as you enjoy a guided tour of the Estate.

Built by the Macarthur family, much mystery has always shrouded the property atop the hill. Why would such a grand residence would be built? And who was it built for? It is these questions that we will unravel on your tour.

Since becoming the proud new owners of this iconic property, our thirst for knowledge about this magnificent building has swept our minds away for countless hours, across many days and nights. We found ourselves transported to another time – learning about the many colourful characters and being immersed in the lives of those that walked before us.

Our imagination can’t but help paint pictures of a kaleidoscope-like community – being formed so beautifully, but forever shifting with any slight movement. Whether that be conquest, advancement, innovation, revenge, or betrayal. It appears the history of Dr Crookston’s Estate is immersed in it all!

You can expect a guided historic tour of Dr Crookston’s Estate to take between 60 – 90 minutes.
When booking your tour ticket, there is the option to pre-purchase a gourmet hamper. You are welcome to stay a while longer and enjoy your hamper in our grounds at the conclusion of your tour.

Our tour groups are capped at 20 people per tour. You will have plenty of opportunity to soak up the knowledge of our expert guides and enjoy intriguing stories they have to share.

Due to the Estate being heritage listed, there is limited disabled access to move around the property and no disabled bathroom facilities. Visitors should be aware that the Estate has a few steps and uneven ground in places.
