The Post Office was officially built in 1876.
Following the closure of the Telegraph Station the Heritage Listed Post Office, built in 1876-77 as the ‘post office’, a term which by this time embraced both letters and telegrams. When the telephone came to Penola in 1908, it too was included in this building. The new post office replaced this building in 1963.
It was purchased by the National Trust of South Australia Penola Branch in 1972 and has had various uses, including as an office for the local newspaper ‘The Pennant’ for many years and later as a vintage clothing and bric a brac shop.
Presently leased as Cuvée-Co Wines featuring a tasting-outlet and showcasing sparkling wines and merchandise.
