Vietnam War: 1962-1975 Honouring Service and Reflecting on Social Change
This exhibition is not a complete history of Australia’s participation in the Vietnam War. Its intention is to pay our respects and to acknowledge the men and women who took part in a war fraught with difficulty while reflecting on the impact the war had at home. Includes a speaking event.
Rocky Hill War Memorial tower opened in 1925 to commemorate the men and women of Goulburn and surroundings districts who served in WWI.
More than 20 metres in height and constructed of local stone, the tower is a well-known and iconic representative of Goulburn and a significant landmark to the local community. A museum opened in the basement of the tower in 1927 to house a collection of war trophies allocated to Goulburn in the 1920s. The collection has grown considerably since and the Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum is now considered one of the most substantial regional military museums in Australia.
December 2025 will mark the 100th anniversary since the official opening of the tower. As part of our current exhibition on the Vietnam War, Dr Bob Hall, a Vietnam veteran and military historian will be discussing his experiences with the 1st Australian Task Force during the Vietnam War.
This will be held in the museum on 23 April at 3pm.
