ANZAC 110th Anniversary Special Exhibition
In this special exhibition, follow in the footsteps of the first Goldfields men to enlist in the First World War, as they experience death and glory on the beaches of Gallipoli and the muddy trenches of Europe.
On 17th August 1914, 187 eager men departed Kalgoorlie as the earliest recruits from the West Australian Goldfields region to enlist for service in the First World War.
From rigorous training at Blackboy Hill camp to the sands of Egypt and the horrors of battle at Gallipoli and the Western Front, shared experiences forged strong bonds between the men over the course of their journey. Courage, mateship and sacrifice came to the fore and all their lives were irrevocably changed.
This special exhibition, following the journey of the first brave Anzacs from the Goldfields to war, was created by the Goldfields War Museum to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing in 2015 and returns to the Boulder Town Hall ten years later.
