From Starch to Scrubs – a history of Royal Perth Hospital told through nurses’ uniforms

From leg o'mutton sleeves, starched veils and stiff collars to fun scrubs, see how nursing uniforms have changed over the last century. Discover the stories of some of the nurses who wore them.

Explore nursing uniforms from the late 1800s to today. Learn about the unsung nurses who wore these uniforms, including brave Agnes Seymour who nursed smallpox patients while a patient herself, Robin Miller the ‘Sugarbird Lady’ and Nurse Betty Kelly, the first civilian to receive penicillin.
As you wander through the museum volunteer guides who lived in Kirkman House as students will share their stories.
