Illawarra in the 1940’s & 50’s – 8mm Film Screening

Step back in time viewing local 1950’s Surf Carnivals, Queen’s Coronation Celebration Parades and some local soccer games from an original 8mm projector. You may see yourself or someone you know!

Come along and see a film screened using an original 8mm film projector. The footage was recently donated to the library collection after being ‘unearthed’ in a local home . The film includes Surf Carnivals, Queen’s Coronation Celebration Parades and some local soccer games from the Illawarra in the 1950s. You may see yourself, a family member or friend in the footage and help the Local studies team ‘unearth’ more information to add to our library records.
