Stepping Back with Fireman Jack

Take a stroll with Fireman Jack before he hangs up his helmet! It’s 1930, and he’s taking one last wander through Murray Street and Victoria Square, reminiscing about grand buildings, colourful characters, and the changes he’s seen. Join him for a cheeky look at the past - and future!

Located in Perth’s historic East End, the Murray Street East and Victoria Square precinct boasts one of the city’s richest collections of late 19th and early 20th century heritage-listed buildings – many still serving their original purpose. From a grand cathedral and convent to a bustling school, hospital, fire station, and government offices, history is alive here!

Stepping Back with Fireman Jack offers a unique, personal take on the area’s past. Through the eyes of a retiring firefighter in 1930, you’ll uncover stories of the people, places, and moments that shaped this neighbourhood.

Pick up a free trail map at the Old Central Fire Station or iCity Information Kiosk, or explore the route using the Perth Trails App. Stroll at your own pace and let Jack’s voice bring the past to life!
