‘Talking Tombstones’ – Unearthing voices from Parramatta’s Foundation Days

Lively power-point presentation that takes you on a journey 'unearthing' intriguing stories from beyond the graves of many that lie within Parramatta's seven historic cemeteries.

Hear stories from the foundation days of the colony that include the regals, the respected, the rascals and of course the colourful rogues.
The importance of Parramatta in the early days of British settlement will be highlighted by the number of ‘firsts’ connected with people who now ‘quietly’ lie with in its cemeteries.
You may be surprised at the number of surnames that have been ‘unearthed’ in Parramatta’s cemeteries, that today are well-known names of Sydney suburbs, local streets and parks, Western Sydney and Sydney City landmarks and even a well-known wine making family.
Morning Tea is also included with this presentation.
